Update on Lady Oops

She made it thru surgery and will be coming home today. Her leg bone is shattered, they put a metal pin it and wire to help rebuild it. May not function properly or look pretty. So far they do not have to amputate it. And she is very lucky no internal injuries.

And, I wanted to smoke so bad due to the stress. But held it togther and am doing good there.

Congrats on Lady's survival and (we hope) full recovery.

...And MAJOR kudos to you for resisting temptation when it would have been all-too-easy to excuse a lapse!

As a former 2-3 pack-a-day man, I can tell you that after a while the fact that you "already have x days/weeks/months in as a non-smoker" starts to become meaningful.

I wanted one worse than life itself a year after I stopped - and that thought kept me from lighting up. All the effort up to then would have been totally wasted. All the pain, all the desire, all the nightmares.

Had any smoking nightmares yet?

You will....

My hub quit a little over a year ago and he had those weird smoking dreams, too. He seemed to be solid on the choice between losing all of his days for one quick smoke, so it's clearly something to focus on when tempted. Keep strong - we're all rooting for you.

I'm glad Lady Oops is doing better and hopefully she'll continue to do so.

Sandy is right. After a while, your success feeds on itself and makes you stronger.

Even the nightmares help, because when you wake up and realize you DID NOT give in and smoke after all, it's like a getting a HUGE wonderful do-over.

The relief is almost better'n sex.

As adults, we don't get many do-overs.

the metal pin started to come out of her leg, so she had to go back to the vet.

Is there a Lady Fund paypal account to help defray those med expenses?

I could spare a bit....

Steamboat that would be a lifesaver.

I have the paypal link above her picture.

I know she is just a dog, But she is my baby, I take her everywhere with me.

They are trying a cast tonight, and if that doesnt work they might have to amputate.

Glad to hear good news of your dog. As for smoking, I quit in 01 when I had congestive heart failure and had a triple bi-pass. Then I chewed on straws for a couple of months - might get you some straws and cut them in half. Its having something to move with your hands to your mouth that you really miss. LOL

I hope everything turns out okay, Amy. You're doing an awesome job not smoking though considering this has to be quite a stressful time.

Buy me a cold one..
